Urban Ministry is pleased to present WE Eat Together Fundraiser, a celebration of food, art, and community. The WE Eat Together Fundraiser is returning with an array of amazing foods from the chefs and junior staff interns of WE Community Cafe, a silent auction highlighting the Best of Alabama and fun with friends against the beautiful backdrop of downtown Birmingham.
WE Eat Together Fundraiser will be held on Thursday, May 31st from 5:30pm-8:00pm on the stunning rooftop of the Kress Building located at 301 19th Street North, Birmingham, AL. Cost of tickets is $50. Block tickets and sponsorships can be purchased by organizations and individuals by emailing [email protected].
#WEEat2018 benefits the healthy living programs of Urban Ministry, including WE Community Gardens, an urban oasis in the midst of a food desert where young people are trained and employed through Urban Ministry’s Workforce and Life Skills Program as expert interns in areas of gardening, composting, and bee keeping. The interns sell the fresh, affordable produce at two local markets or give to senior citizens in need. The annual event also benefits WE Community Cafe, a pay-as-you-can, social enterprise café in the heart of West End which feeds more than 250 people each week from all walks of life, and employs additional interns to train in the fields of culinary arts and hospitality while increasing their economic opportunity and professional development.
